How personal information is handled on this website.

Last updated: 30 October 2026

This notice explains how petergroenenstein.com handles personal information, in line with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

Who is responsible

Peter Groenenstein is the responsible party for personal information collected through this website. To ask about your information, use the contact form.

What we collect

  • Contact form: your name, email address, optional organisation and subject, the type of enquiry, your message and your consent. We also record the date and time, your IP address and browser type to prevent abuse.
  • Server logs: standard technical logs (IP address, pages requested, browser) kept by the web host for security and reliability.

We collect only what is needed to respond. This website does not use advertising trackers, analytics cookies or social-media embeds, and does not set non-essential cookies. Fonts are hosted on this site, not by a third party.

Why we use it

To read and answer your enquiry, to keep a record of correspondence, and to protect the website against spam and misuse. We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not use your contact details for marketing without your separate consent.

Who can see it

Your message is delivered by email to the site owner and held in a private log on the hosting server. Information may be disclosed where required by law.

How long we keep it

Enquiries are kept only as long as needed to respond and for reasonable record-keeping, after which they are deleted. Technical logs are rotated by the host.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS, the form is validated and rate-limited on the server, and stored submissions sit outside the public web folder with restricted permissions.

Your rights

You may ask to access, correct or delete your personal information, or object to its processing. You may also lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa (inforegulator.org.za).

Changes

If this notice changes, the date above will be updated.
